Performance Opportunities at PASIC

Welcome back to the Chops blog.  Today we would like to highlight some of the opportunities student percussionists have to perform in competitive events at PASIC.  With the convention being held right here in Indianapolis, it’s a great opportunity for Indiana schools, and schools from surrounding states, to give their students some incredible experiences!  Plus, by performing at PASIC, students receive a discounted rate on one-day and four-day badges!  Welcome back to the Chops blog.  Today we would like to highlight some of the opportunities student percussionists have to perform in competitive events at PASIC.  With the convention being held right here in Indianapolis, it’s a great opportunity for Indiana schools, and schools from surrounding states, to give their students some incredible experiences!  Plus, by performing at PASIC, students receive a discounted rate on one-day and four-day badges!

 There are two options available for registering participating students:

Option 1 — $25/student: includes a Single-day Badge for Friday, which students can use to attend all PASIC activities for the day (Nov. 10, 2017).

Option 2 — $75/student: includes a Four-day Badge, which students can use to attend all PASIC activities for the duration of PASIC (Nov. 8–11, 2017).

The event takes place November 8-11, but the registration deadline for performing is quickly approaching (September 29).

The competitive performance categories include:

  • Marching Festival Competitions
    • Individual Competitiono Small Ensemble Competition
    • Interactive Clinic (non-competitive)
    • Drumline Battle
  • Concert Chamber Percussion Ensemble Competition (3-8 members)

Marching Festival Competitions

Recognized as one of the premier marching percussion festivals in the country, the Percussive Arts Society’s annual Marching Percussion Festival is an excellent opportunity to be critiqued by some of the leading percussion specialists in the field of marching percussion today.

Categories include:

Individual Competition

High school and college individuals compete for national honors on snare, multi-tenors, keyboard, timpani, and multiple percussion.

A competitive festival for Snare Drum, Multi-Tenors, Bass Drum, and Cymbal Ensembles.

Concert Chamber Percussion Ensemble Competition

The purpose of the Concert Chamber Percussion Ensemble Competition is to provide a competitive avenue for collegiate and high school-level small “concert” percussion ensembles (3-8 members).

Any Indiana directors looking to take their kids to PASIC, but not necessarily perform, can contact pasicreg@pas.org to inquire about group rates.
