You’re Never Too Old To Get Better

Welcome back to the Chops Blog! Today I wanted to share some personal experience and hope to inspire some of the older readers out there.

Have you ever thought that maybe you’ve hit the ceiling from a musical standpoint? I think we all reach a point in our playing careers that cause us to reevaluate what we’re doing and how we’re approaching our craft. At some point, we have to decide if we’re going to do something about it, and I recently reached that point with my playing. I decided to see what kind of programs were out there to help me get better.

I enrolled in the Todd Sucherman “Rock Drumming Masterclass” recently, and I wish that I had done something like that years ago. This masterclass has renewed my drumming passion in a very positive way so far, and I do think that many people would benefit from some type of lesson program during their playing career. Todd is such a masterful player, and I consider him a fantastic teacher and motivator as well. I haven’t enjoyed practicing this much in years!

Drumeo.com and Mikeslessons.com are just a couple of the great online resource programs that are available. If you would rather take lessons at home, this is a great way to go! If you think you would have trouble committing to taking lessons via the computer, visit your local music store and see if they offer private instruction. If they do not, ask them if they know anyone that does. Many stores keep a list of private teachers in the area.

Being a great musician is hard work. If you feel like you’re not getting any better, or you just want to learn new ways to get better, a lesson program may be exactly what you need. I know it is helping me, and I would guess that it could help you as well! Even if you just learn a couple of new tricks, the lessons were absolutely worth it. If you enroll in a lesson program, please email us at chops@chopspercussion.comand let us know how it’s going for you.
